Stand With Bears Ears at the Utah State Capitol

MAY 18, 3:00 PM!

Bears Ears needs YOU! Please join UDB & tribal leaders at the Utah State Capitol rotunda (east end) at 3pm on Wednesday to stand in support of Bears Ears. // For those in San Juan County, join us at 3pm at the Monument Valley Welcome Center for a parallel event that will be live-streamed to the UT Capitol.

THIS IS A CRITICAL MOMENT. On Wednesday afternoon, the Utah state legislature will meet to vote on a resolution formally opposing designation of Bears Ears as a national monument.

We cannot sit silent in the face of this resolution. We must show that Native American people and Utah citizens want to see Bears Ears protected–not left to looting, vandalism, and theft. We need to send the message that whatever the state legislature does, the reality is that Tribes want President Obama to protect sacred sites and honor ancestral lands by designating Bears Ears National Monument, and the vast majority of Utahns support this Native-led initiative.

Wherever you are, Bears Ears needs YOU! Please join us on Wednesday afternoon at the Utah State Capitol or in Monument Valley. Help amplify this important message by standing tall in support.

Wear your Protect Bears Ears t-shirt (available atwww.utahdinebikeyah.org/t-shirts and at the Avenues Bistro in SLC) or get one from a volunteer and wear it! This makes your support visible. Bring a sign if you like!

Public transportation to the Capitol: Take the Trax blue or green line to the Temple Square station. Walk east on South Temple to State Street, turn left and walk up the hill to the Capitol. 20 min +/- walk. We’ll see you there!

Ahéhee’! Tog’oiak’! Thank you!
